Snow Fun

Photobucket
Our sweet friends have surprised us with goodies twice in the past two days. Yesterday, they brought this hand-me-down bike for Daniel. He has needed a new bike in the next size up and was thrilled. It was perfect timing, too, since we are supposed to have warm weather all week. Christina received a fun Candyland DVD game from them too.

Then tonight, they brought a Valentines plate of mini heart cakes in chocolate and Red Velvet. How did she know all day I've been dying to make a Red Velvet cake, but hated to do all that work, just to satisfy my craving for a piece. What fun friends they are!

The skies were just beautiful today and it was nice to have my camera ready in my coat pocket.

I love our neighborhood.

Christina was so sad that Daniel went to a neighbor friend's to play. I played outside with her today to cheer her up and distract her. She has been loving playing with Daniel and Katie lately. She pesters them continually until they will spend time with her.

So, after making Valentine deliveries and going on a scooter ride, we decided to make this snow baby. It's right in the middle of our driveway between the 2nd and 3rd car garage. Funny, dangerous spot for a baby of any kind to be hanging out.

Then we started making snowmen that were a little bigger. This one is supposed to be Christina. She helped me find rocks for the eyes, sticks for the arms, and put the hat on. I have found that building an actual snowman is not that easy for kids to do on their own.

When we were looking for rocks and sticks for the face, we noticed this sign of spring that's just around the corner. I'm trying to remember just what spring bulbs I planted in the fall. I think Dutch Irises.

Snow baby looks more warm and cute with a too-big hat on its head.

This little tease then engaged me in a snowball fight. She has quite the arm and aim! Me on the other hand. I'm horrible at aiming when I throw. The kids thought it was funny that I could rarely hit them. It brought back bad memories of being in the outfield playing Little League girls baseball.

I love her grin in this one. She threw a bunch right at me that went down my coat and was so proud. You can see her dimple in these two photos.
Photobucket
She just looks innocent.

Then we all played together in the snow and built The Three Musketeer Snow Kids. From left to right: Katie, Christina, and Daniel. Katie hates it when I don't make her significantly taller than the other two, but we did our best with the snow conditions. It's getting pretty slushy and dirty, but I'm just happy it's warmer to play in the snow.

Daniel can be clever and thought to use pecans for the eyes and buttons. He enjoyed smoothing out the snow on the snowmen's bodies. I wonder how quickly these guys will melt with the weather possibly reaching the high 70s this week.
Photobucket
I was stunned to see them making snow angels in such wet, slushy snow, but they had a ball!
Photobucket
Daniel wasn't happy with the quality of the pecans on the ground, so he climbed the tree to find better, more fresh ones. He cracks me up!

Christina finally got cold and went inside. Daniel made a massive snowball to throw at me. I love this time with my kids playing in the snow.

It was "SNOW" much fun this Valentines Day afternoon!
